Like shortstop, outfielder is a deceptive position in fantasy baseball. It looks like it's full of superstars, but in reality, you need to have at least two heavy impact players in your outfield slots in order to compete. The question is what qualifies as a "heavy impact player?" The cutoff this year seems to be right after No. 21, between Chone Figgins and purported steroid user Gary Sheffield.
The great thing about outfield is that a handful of players after No. 22 will emerge as fantasy baseball superstars. Whether you draft them or pick them up off waivers, ideally they will fill your number three slot in the outfield, after the heavy impact players you've already drafted.
