2012 Fantasy Baseball Draft Player Rankings -
Shortstops

  1. Troy Tulowitzki - Tulo reigns supreme in the SS crop, and it‘s not difficult to see why. With a .300 average, 10 SBs, and 30 homerun power, he is truly an elite talent.
  2. Hanley Ramirez - Despite being displaced by Miami‘s new acquisition, you can still start Han-Ram at SS on your team. And a line like .300/20/30 should be all the incentive you need.
  3. Jose Reyes - Reyes was on an MVP pace last season before falling victim to injury. A .300 average, 10 shots along with 35 stolen are all reasonable, of course with the limiting factor being him staying healthy.
  4. Starlin Castro - The defensively challenged Cubs infielder is a top 5 fantasy shortstop headed into next season. We should see him hit over .300 with 10 homers and 20+ steals in another great year out of the youngster.
  5. Elvis Andrus - Elvis should steal 40 bases while hitting a solid .280. If he continues to develop his on-base abilities that will only lead to more stolen bases and value.
  6. Asdrubal Cabrera - This first-time all star is a good bet to continue his success in 2012 with around 15 homeruns and stolen bases with a .280 batting average.
  7. Jimmy Rollins - J-Roll isn‘t quite the star he used to be. Still expect a good .265/15/25 year in the friendly confines of CBP.
  8. J.J. Hardy - While not a speed threat, Hardy is a good shortstop and a threat to hit 20+ homers with a .270 average.
  9. Derek Jeter - Don‘t be the guy that drafts Jeter with like the 2nd pick, just leave him for the overeager Yankees fan. He is still a good player, he’s just always over-drafted. .285/8/15
  10. Jhonny Peralta - Expect the powerful Peralta to put up about 18 homeruns and to hit .270 next season.
  11. Alexei Ramirez - The south side‘s shortstop should post a .275 average with 15 homers and 10 stolen bases.
  12. Erick Aybar - Admiral Ackbar, as he is known by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Orange County faithful, can steal 25 bases, hit .270, and knock about 8 home runs.
  13. Yunel Escobar -Yunel should hit around .285 with 10 long balls. Much of his real world value comes from defense while his fantasy value comes from getting on base.
  14. Dee Gordon - Gordon was a newcomer to the bigs for the Dodgers last year, and he is pure speed. He could have between 40 and 50 stolen bases and bat .275.
  15. Ian Desmond - Desmond should post a .265/10/20 line in another solid season in our nation‘s capital.
  16. Stephen Drew - Expect Stephen, youngest of the Drew brothers, to hit .265 with 13 homers in 2012.
  17. Alcides Escobar - Look for the slick-fielding Escobar to bat .265, steal 25 and club a handful of long balls.
  18. Marco Scutaro - Scooter should hit .275 and knock 10 out of the park whilst covering the Boston infield.
  19. Emilio Bonifacio - This guy puts up power numbers that make Ozzie Guillen look purely Bonds-ian. But he‘ll steal you 30 or so bases and hit about .265 which is serviceable enough.
  20. Jason Bartlett - This Padre should have no trouble hitting his way to a .260 average and stealing 20 bags.
  21. Rafael Furcal - The veteran speedster is almost a lock to get injured every year. But when all is said and done we should see a .270/9/12 line from Furcal.
  22. Jed Lowrie - The new ‘Stros utility man should bat .270 with 9 bombs in some 400 at bats.
  23. Alexi Casilla - Not much power, but he’s good to hit about .270 with 15 stolen bases.
  24. Alex Gonzalez - Sea Bass, they call him; and at the plate he looks like a fish out of water. He might knock 14 out of the park and hit about .240 though.
  25. Yuniesky Betancourt - Yuniesky just keeps finding starting roles. And as long as he does he will hit .250 with 10 or so homers.
  26. Cliff Pennington
  27. Maicer Izturis
  28. Ryan Theriot
  29. Miguel Tejada
  30. Jeff Keppinger
  31. Edgar Renteria
  32. Orlando Cabrera
  33. Juan Uribe
  34. Jason Donald
  35. Jerry Hairston
  36. Jamey Carroll
  37. Willie Bloomquist
  38. Brendan Ryan
  39. Reid Brignac
  40. Felipe Lopez
  41. Brandon Wood
  42. Wilson Valdez
  43. Nick Punto
  44. Cesar Izturis
  45. Brendan Harris
  46. Everth Cabrera
  47. Adam Rosales
